The Discovery policy provides affordable backpackers travel insurance for those who plan to travel for an extended period. Whether you want to travel for one month or a year, we'll tailor it to your exact requirements.

Tailored to your exact requirements, it covers you for anything from 31 days to a year abroad. Worldwide cover gives you the freedom to travel the globe. Alternatively, you can choose options if you are travelling in Europe or Australia / New Zealand.

As with all our policies, we try to make things as easy as possible for you. We recognise that some people might do a little working abroad whilst travelling, even if they had not originally planned to, so light general work is covered as standard. Activities such as white water rafting and scuba diving are also included, again at no extra cost, just in case you want to give them a try.

Sports and activities
Cover is provided for a variety of activities (Activity Pack). We also offers top-up cover for a wide range of additional sports & activities. Further information and details of the types of activities covered are available when you request a quote from our online ordering system .

What you need to tell us
To ensure that this insurance provides adequate cover, it is important that you tell us if you have any existing medical conditions. You must also tell us of any fact that is likely to influence us in the assessment or acceptance of this insurance. Failure to do so may mean that you have insufficient cover in the event of a claim.

Policy excess
In most cases, an excess of £50 applies to single trip policies. However, we do not apply it where claims are just for benefit payments - for example, for travel delay. Alternatively, you have the option to remove the excess, if you wish. For each claim, we only apply one excess per person, regardless of how many sections of the policy the claim covers.

Flexibility
All of our policies are designed to be flexible, so if you want something a little different, just ask!

IMPORTANT
This is a single trip insurance policy and cover will cease upon return to the UK.

The Discovery policy is for people under the age of 50.
(Must have been a resident of the UK for the last 12 months).

Our opening hours are 8am to 8pm on weekdays, 9am to 6pm on Saturdays and 10am to 4pm on Sundays. Insurance cover is available instantly over the telephone. Please note that our travel insurance is only available to UK nationals, or people who have lived in the UK for 12 months or more and have a permanent UK address.
